HAMBURG, NY – Penn State – Altoona softball’s 17-0 and 23-5 victories over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Hilbert College on Saturday were impressive, but they were upstaged by perfection.

In game one of the doubleheader, junior pitcher Jackie Smith (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) threw a perfect game. She pitched five innings, allowing no runs, hits, or walks while striking out seven of the 15 batters she faced.

Smith’s perfect game is the first perfect game pitched in the modern history of Penn State – Altoona softball, dating back to the program’s inception in 2001.
