LORETTO, PAFreshman  Olivia Pittman recorded seven points to lead the Saint Francis University womens lacrosse team to a win over Binghamton, 10 – 5, at DeGol Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Flash (1-1) racked up nine scores in the first half and never gave the Bearcats (0-1) any chance to mount a comeback. SFU finished with 21 shots, with 15 of them coming on goal.

Rebecca Meyer started the scoring for SFU as she netted a goal three minutes into the game. Pittman scored the next two goals for the Flash, both off free position attempts.

Rachel Larson put one in the back of the net with 14:08 to play in the first half and the scoring started to pick-up as SFU scored five more before halftime.

With just 11 seconds to play before the break Pittman managed to fire another shot past the goalkeeper.

Megan Ross scored early into the second period for SFU off a nice feed from Christina Fini.

SFU would not score again in the half and relied on freshman Savannah Shores to make some big saves to fight off any Binghamton comeback. Shores picked up four saves in the winning decision. Kimberly Peterson checked into the game for three minutes in the first half after a yellow card was given to Shores. Peterson tallied one save in the first half.

Olivia Pittman finished with four goals and three assists to lead the Red Flash. Rachel Larson finished with three goals to complete a hat trick effort. Rebecca Meyer posted two goals and Christina Fini registered two helpers.

Saint Francis will hit the road for a couple weeks, they will face Winthrop on March 3 at 1 p.m.
