UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Loyalsock Township Lancers have won the PIAA Class AA State Baseball Championship in a hard fought game, 5-4 over Beaver; on Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in Centre County.

Bailey Young hit a one-out, walk-off single, scoring pinch-runner Caleb Robbins from second to earn the title.

Loyalsock (22-3) who lost to South Williamsport and Milton during the regular season; and once again to Hughesville in the District IV title game, at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport would not be denied on this beautiful sunny day.

The Lancers won the program’s second state title and first since 2008.

Beaver had not allowed a run to be scored in their quest to the state title game. Loyalsock defeated four straight district champions who were a combined 81-9, capping a spectacular season that saw numerous injuries and setbacks to a team that refused to lose.

Kyle DatresĀ  (5-1) got the victory for the Lancers. But, it was a totally team effort.
