NEW ORLEANS, LA – Clarion University senior javelin thrower Kim Hanslovan has been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Academic Track & Field Team while Clarion also earned Division II All-Academic team honors.

“I remain proud to be a member of the Clarion University family, and I am very proud of the team’s academic accomplishments,” Clarion head coach D.J. Bevevino said. “One of the things we emphasize within our program is good academics along with good performances. These awards are a combination of both.”

Hanslovan (Luthersburg/DuBois) is one of 317 student-athletes to earn the All-Academic award, while the Golden Eagles are one of 83 Division II institutions to earn All-Academic team honors.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark in either the indoor or outdoor season. Hanslovan was an automatic qualifier in the javelin and finished sixth at the NCAA Division II outdoor championships earning her second All-American award in the event. This is the second time Hanslovan, who transferred to Clarion from Penn State after her sophomore season, has been honored as a USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic team member. She also garnered the award in 2010 when she finished second in the javelin at the NCAA Division II championships. Hanslovan’s award marks the 15th time since 2006 that Clarion has had a USTFCCA All-Academic performer.

In earning its sixth team academic award in the past seven seasons Clarion had to have a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better. The Golden Eagles had a 3.18 this year.
