LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (20-9) looked to spark up a huge comeback for the second straight night, but it wasn’t to be as the Lady Eagles lost 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 19-25 & 25-22) to rival California (Pa.) University (31-4) in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship match.

Last night, LHU came back from two down to rally past defending PSAC champ Clarion University to reach tonight’s conference final.

California knocked off West Chester 3-1 last night to set up tonight’s championship tilt.

LHU and Cal came into tonight tied with six conference titles to their name.

Once again, junior Gao Xuan (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) had a huge night for The Haven. She finished with a match-high 28 kills and hit a red-hot .383.

Senior Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) added nine kills for Lock Haven.

Alexa Garrity (Boothwyn/Cardinal O’Hara) dished out 45 assists and Erin Walsh (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) had 21 digs.

As a team LHU had eight blocks and six aces.

The Vulcans were led by tournament MVP Brandy Harris. The junior from Bedford, Pa. knocked down 19 kills tonight while hitting .381. She also added 17 digs. Cal also got 12 kills from Meghan Franz.

The NCAA will announced its selections for the 2011 NCAA Division II National Tournament tomorrow (Sunday, November 13) at 10 p.m.
